Advancement from Silver to Gold
Step 1
To advance to the Gold level, members are required have a physical asbestos survey audit.
Step 2
Present for review a suitable QMS (Quality Management System), as a minimum, this must conform to ISO 9001
Gold survey audit
A physical on-site audit is required to advance to the Gold level.
The Guild understands that carrying out a physical on-site audit of an asbestos survey, the cost of engaging an auditor and the logistics of getting the audit scheduled to suit both parties is complex although an in-person audit should be the primary choice as this would expedite the advancement process.
Due to this, The Guild have introduced a method for "virtual" or "live steam" audits.
The process of carrying out a virtual audit requires the surveyor to have the ability to carry out the survey while being observed remotely by a Guild approved auditor.
Several live stream systems are available such as MS Teams, WhatsApp video call, etc. the system used MUST be agreed with the auditor in advance.
There are strict requirements for this type of remote audit:
Before the survey:
Provide evidence of survey planning See 'Section 4 of HSG264, Asbestos the Survey Guide'
-
Desk to study
-
Risk assessment
-
Plan of Works
Live survey audit:
-
The surveyor must present themselves to camera at the start of the audit.
-
The surveyor MUST share their location at the start of the survey.
-
The camera/device must remain connected for the duration of the audit.
-
Where a signal or video signal is lost, every attempt must be made to re-establish connection, where not possible, the audit will be classed as a failed attempt and a new audit arranged.
-
The surveyor MUST provide a reliable means of contact in the eventuality of a lost video or audio signal, e.g. active mobile phone number.
-
-
The surveyor must ensure that the instructions presented by the auditor are fully observed during the audit process.
-
The audit will be asking to observe the following during the audit:
-
taking of samples, this will include sample bag preparation.
-
General health and safety protocols
-
Surveying method, see 'Section 5 of HSG 264, Asbestos - The Survey Guide', this is what the auditor will be marking the audit against.
-
Survey completeness based on the type of survey being undertaken
-
NOTE: The auditor will not be instructing the surveyor on how to carryout the survey, they are there to observe and record the surveyors ability and processes.
To finalise advancement to Gold, the completed survey report for the survey audited MUST be submitted for review
Maintaining membership
At what ever level a member is, they are required to submit for review any and all updated certification, training and documents that are subject to expiry or renewal.
Once at the Gold level, members are required to submit for review an audit of a percentage of their annual survey reports. As a minimum, this should be at least 5% of survyes undertaken.
